Last updated: 7 July 2026. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

The Dayologue ("we", "us", "our") operates thedayologue.com (the "Site"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy applies to visitors and to anyone who comments or subscribes.

Who is responsible for your data

The Dayologue is the data controller for the personal data described here. For any privacy request, contact us at privacy@thedayologue.com.

What we collect and why

We keep data collection to a minimum. Specifically:

Newsletter. If you subscribe, we store the email address you provide so we can send you updates. Legal basis: your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Comments. If you leave a comment, we store the name (or handle) and comment text you submit. Comments are reviewed before they appear. Legal basis: your consent and our legitimate interest in running a moderated discussion.

Analytics. Only if you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit, which pages are popular, and roughly where visitors come from (for example, search engines or social links). This helps us improve what we publish. Legal basis: your consent. Google processes this data on our behalf; IP addresses are handled by Google and used to derive approximate location only.

Technical operation. Our hosting provider (Vercel) and database provider (Supabase) automatically process limited technical information such as your IP address and browser type to serve pages securely and prevent abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure, working Site.

Cookies and similar technologies

Essential cookies / storage are used to remember your cookie choice and site preferences (such as light or dark mode). These are always on because the Site cannot function properly without them.

Analytics cookies are set only after you select "Accept all" in our cookie banner. If you choose "Reject non-essential", no analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers that help us run the Site, acting as our processors: Google (analytics), Vercel (hosting), and Supabase (database). Each is bound to process data only on our instructions. We may also disclose data if required by law.

International transfers

Some providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where that happens, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the providers' Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

We keep newsletter emails until you unsubscribe, comments for as long as the related article is published (or until you ask us to remove them), and analytics data for the retention period configured in Google Analytics. Technical logs are kept only as long as needed for security.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and similar laws you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our use of your personal data, to withdraw consent at any time, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email privacy@thedayologue.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "last updated" date above and, for significant changes, provide a more prominent notice.
